About Me

Ever since I was 9 years old and volunteered as an assistant gymnastics trainer for smaller children I have been fascinated by all kinds of body-oriented disciplines. I formally and informally studied different kinds of Massage, Tai Chi, Qi Gong, Classical, Jazz and Modern Dance as well as Yoga and nutrition. And I always loved horse-back riding, track and field, and skiing. In 1995, a friend recommended Pilates classes to help to alleviate my back problems. I joined a Pilates studio in Byron Bay, Australia and began with two Pilates sessions a week. I was more than impressed with how quickly this core training helped me. Within a couple of months my back was 80% better. I was hooked. In 1998 I decided to go to New York and study the Pilates method with Romana Kryzanowska, a student of Joseph Pilates, who took over his studio after his death. It was, at the time, the most thorough and complete Pilates teacher-training I could find, a total of 600 hours. I passed the final exam in December 1999, and have since been working in a number of different gyms, teaching the Pilates mat classes and in my own studio, "Pilates in the Berkshires - Health in Motion" in Lenox, MA, where I use the Pilates equipment in one on one sessions.
